Florian Plettenberg reports that West Ham United has joined the list of clubs interested in signing Mats Hummels. Previously, Bologna was leading the race to secure the former German international’s signature after RCD Mallorca withdrew their interest.
However, Bologna has now retracted their contract offer as Hummels, 35, has not yet committed. This development has opened the door for Brighton & Hove Albion, whose new head coach, Fabian Hürzeler, has already reached out to Hummels to discuss the club’s vision and his future ambitions.
Despite this, West Ham might try to swoop in and sign the veteran defender, as they are seeking to add experience to their defense. Hummels is also weighing the possibility of retirement but has not made a final decision yet.
