West Ham is targeting Kieran Trippier as they intensify efforts to sign a right-back before the Premier League season begins next week.
The club has already signed players like Max Kilman, Crysencio Summerville, Niclas Fullkrug, Guido Rodriguez, and Luis Guilherme, but a full-back remains a priority for new manager Julen Lopetegui.
Manchester United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters have been considered, but deals for either player haven’t been finalized, though both remain highly valued.
West Ham is also exploring the possibility of bringing in Newcastle’s Kieran Trippier, 33, depending on his availability. Although Trippier has been linked with Saudi Arabian clubs, his future at St James’ Park is still uncertain. Since joining Newcastle from Atletico Madrid in 2022, Trippier has played a key role in the team’s qualification for the Champions League and often captained the side. His contract with Newcastle runs until 2025, and he would be eligible to negotiate with other clubs in January when he enters the final six months of his deal.
Vladimir Coufal started almost all of West Ham’s Premier League games last season, but the club is looking to add competition in the right-back position for Lopetegui.
Brighton has shown interest in signing experienced defender Mats Hummels, who is available on a free transfer after leaving Borussia Dortmund. However, Brighton faces tough competition for the 35-year-old, who has 78 caps for Germany and was part of the team that won the 2014 World Cup. Last season, Hummels helped Dortmund reach the Champions League final.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa is finalizing a deal for England Under-17 striker Mason Cotcher, who is set to undergo a medical on Friday ahead of his move from Sunderland. The clubs have agreed on terms, with the remaining formalities expected to be completed over the weekend.
