“Celtic Poised to Snatch Messi-Like Starlet as O’Riley Replacement”
It is reported that Southampton are also interested in the attacking midfielder, but Celtic are believed to have the edge due to Brighton’s ongoing negotiations over Matt O’Riley.
It initially appeared that Buonanotte would be joining Feyenoord this season, but when they withdrew from the deal, it created an opportunity for Celtic to step in.
The talented 19-year-old has made 50 senior appearances for Brighton and has earned two caps for Argentina. During his time at Brighton, he has scored five goals and provided two assists.
Buonanotte has drawn comparisons to the legendary Lionel Messi, with Carlos Tevez remarking, “The way he brakes and accelerates reminds me a lot of Messi. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a young player who brings me so much joy, and I watch a lot of football.”
Tevez also noted, “He has a great mentality. He’s at a high level, and I don’t think he has a ceiling. He can achieve as much as he wants.”
This certainly seems like a deal Celtic would be keen to finalize. If O’Riley departs, Brendan Rodgers might see Buonanotte as a strong replacement option.
The Argentine is reportedly valued at around £15 million, which could be a bargain if he fulfills his potential.
