“Roma Reinforces Defense with Signing of Swedish Left-Back Samuel Dahl”
Roma has struggled with the full-back position for many years, failing to find lasting solutions from their academy. Over the past 15 years, they’ve repeatedly tried different approaches, including signing older players and converting wingers into defenders. Currently, with experienced players Angeliño and Zeki Celik in the starting lineup, Roma’s situation is not dire, but improvements are still needed.
Recently, Roma signed 16-year-old Spanish right-back Buba Sangaré for the Primavera team. Following this, club director Florent Ghisofli focused on strengthening the left side. After a brief period distracted by the Matíás Soulé and Artem Dovbyk transfer sagas, Roma announced the signing of Swedish left-back Samuel Dahl from Djurgarden for €4.3 million.
Dahl is expected to back up Angeliño at left-back and could offer more tactical options due to his experience in more advanced positions. At 24, Dahl is the 13th Swedish player in Roma’s history and will wear the number 26 shirt.
