“Bournemouth Battles Arsenal in LA: Coach Iraola Celebrates Pre-Season Success and Growing Fanbase”

Three days earlier, Bournemouth had been held to the same score by League One Wrexham in Santa Barbara. However, they showed more of the dangerous side they displayed last season in their performance against Arsenal, with Dominic Solanke and Dango Ouattara coming close to scoring before Antoine Semenyo eventually found the net.

Discussing the draw in Los Angeles, head coach Iraola expressed his satisfaction with the game, stating he was “really, really happy.” He noted that even in the first half, Bournemouth probably had more chances to win. He emphasized that, apart from the result, which he deemed the least important aspect, the team played at a good rhythm, much quicker than in their previous match against Wrexham.

Iraola highlighted the importance of the USA trip for the club, not just from a sporting perspective. He suggested that many people who attended the game might not have known about Bournemouth or their players, but would now be more aware of the team. He mentioned that building a brand takes time and expressed happiness at seeing fans who traveled from England for the open training session, considering it very good for the club."BREAKING NEWS: Bournemouth Impresses Against Arsenal – Coach Iraola Reflects on USA Tour and Pre-Season Progress...Read more"

Bournemouth had lost 4-0 and 3-0 to Arsenal in the Premier League last season, with Mikel Arteta’s Gunners narrowly missing out on the title to Manchester City on the final day. When asked about the challenge posed by Arsenal in California, Iraola said he wouldn’t draw too many conclusions from a pre-season friendly. He acknowledged Arsenal’s distinctive style of play and recognized them as an elite team with a top-level coach, making it a valuable game for Bournemouth’s improvement.

Regarding expectations for his own team this season, Iraola said he doesn’t put much stock in expectations. He pointed out that early losses can lead to negative perceptions, but the league ultimately determines a team’s level. He praised last season’s performance, which saw Bournemouth achieve a points record for the club and finish 12th, but stressed the need to replicate that success.

Bournemouth is set to host Iraola’s former club, Rayo Vallecano, in a friendly at Vitality Stadium next Sunday.
