“Roma’s Bold Stadium Plans: A New Era with Europe’s Biggest Curva Sud”
Roma has unveiled its plans for a new stadium following an enthusiastic meeting with Rome’s Mayor, Roberto Gualtieri, on Wednesday.
The Giallorossi aim to construct a completely new stadium, marking their departure from the Stadio Olimpico, which they have called home since 1953.
The centerpiece of their ambition is a new Curva Sud, which Roma hopes will become the largest stand in Europe. Currently, Borussia Dortmund’s Südtribüne at Signal Iduna Park holds the title with a capacity of 25,000.
Roma also emphasize sustainability in their project, pledging that the new stadium will benefit both their supporters and the city of Rome.
Details of the new stadium plans were presented to city representatives, including Mayor Gualtieri and city planning head Maurice Veloccia, with Roma Vice-President Ryan Friedkin and CEO Lina Souloukou in attendance.
Roma reported that there was mutual excitement about the project’s innovative aspects. Friedkin commented, “It was an honor to meet with Mayor Gualtieri and share our vision for the new stadium. This new venue will serve not just as AS Roma’s home but also as a landmark for all Roman citizens. The new Curva Sud will become the largest in Europe, reflecting the passion and energy of our fans.”
He added, “Inspired by classical Roman architecture and featuring state-of-the-art facilities, the stadium will provide a world-class experience for football fans and the local community. We are dedicated to creating a space that captures the essence of AS Roma while setting a global standard for innovation, excellence, and environmental responsibility.”
