“Arsenal Poised to Hijack West Ham’s Key Summer Transfer Target”
West Ham United might face a significant setback from Arsenal during the summer transfer window. The upcoming transfer period is crucial for West Ham’s head coach, Julen Lopetegui, and equally important for Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta.
Lopetegui has made three strong signings already, but many more are needed to compete effectively this season. Arsenal has already challenged West Ham by moving to sign Lopetegui’s target, Johan Bakayoko. Now, the North London club might pose another problem for West Ham.
Arteta is reportedly interested in an outstanding attacker. According to a report from Sabah, the agent of Baris Alper Yilmaz is set to visit London to discuss a potential £25 million move to Arsenal. West Ham has been closely linked with the 24-year-old winger and is expected to make a bid soon. However, with Arsenal entering the race, West Ham’s chances of signing the Turkish international might be slim.
Yilmaz scored seven goals and provided 12 assists in 55 games for Galatasaray last season and impressed at Euro 2024 for Turkey. A right-footed right winger, Yilmaz can also play on the left or as a striker. If West Ham were to sign him, he would likely play on the left, given their strong competition for right-wing positions. He is known for his pace, tenacity, dribbling skills, and effectiveness in the final third.
