Samuel Whitbread Academy, Taylor’s school, announced his move on social media. In the post, Taylor is seen holding a 2024-25 Newcastle goalkeeper shirt with the caption: “Wow! We are excited to announce that our 1st XI Captain & GK James Taylor has signed a two-year professional contract with Premier League side @NUFC. After leading the England Schoolboys, he now takes the next step in his journey. Proud of you, JT!”

Hemel Hempstead issued a club statement regarding Taylor’s transfer to the North East. Taylor expressed his gratitude, saying: “A massive thank you to everyone at the club for giving me the chance to step into senior football. Special thanks to Dmitri and ‘Kingy’ [Craig King] for their support and guidance.”

Additionally, Newcastle announced three new academy signings on scholarship deals earlier this month: striker Kayden Lucas, winger Ezra Tika-Lemba, and defender Aaron Epia.

Lucas secured his deal after scoring nine goals in six matches for Clevedon Town under-18s. Tika-Lemba previously played for West Ham United, while Epia chose Newcastle over staying at Everton.
