Agent reveals that Ibrox’s departure from Rangers will take place this summer, and the star may not return for preseason.
According to his agent Giovanni Becali, Ianis Hagi is expected to depart Rangers this summer and might not come back for the preseason.
The agent for the Romanian internationals acknowledged that his client intends to leave Ibrox and that “several teams would like him” in an interview on the Fanatik Superliga Show (via Ziare.com, July 19).Becali stated he is “about to leave,” but the Bears are expected to demand a fee and the player is paid well, so it is unclear how a deal will actually work out.
“Ianis’s contract with Glasgow Rangers is up in one year,” he stated.
“I’m not sure if he will show up for preseason training, or when he will.” He’s going to walk away. I’m hearing all over the place right now that he’s wanted by multiple organizations. “In the sense that the Rangers would wish to exact revenge on him. Ianis receives a substantial salary from them. It’s time, we’ll see. The frontiers of transfers opened only after the Euros, so we’ll see what it’s all about.
Ianis Hagi’s time with the Rangers is over.
Given that Hagi was recovering from a significant knee injury, it came as a bit of a surprise to many when Michael Beale offered him a new contract at Ibrox as one of his first managerial actions.
Hagi never fully returned to his peak, so it came as less of a surprise when Beale let him go last summer for a season-long loan to Alaves, where he was unable to really make an impression.
Although Philippe Clement doesn’t have a lot of choices at number ten, it was always doubtful that the 25-year-old would fit into his plans given the manner the manager approaches games [Chris Jack, 18 June].
The most likely course of action has always been to leave, and the plan was to hope that he would do well at Euro 2024 to spark interest. It appears that he may have done just that.
It’s now just a matter of coming to an agreement that benefits everyone, but at this point, it’s probably safe to assume that Hagi has played his last game with the Rangers.
