Nottingham Forest Strengthens Squad with Cahill and Milenkovic Signings

Nottingham Forest has announced the signing of Shae Cahill, the son of former Everton and Socceroos star Tim Cahill. The 19-year-old midfielder, who last played for Brisbane Roar in the A-League Men, will initially join Forest’s B team.

“I’m thrilled to begin this new chapter with Nottingham Forest. I want to express my gratitude to the club and my family for their support,” Shae told the club’s website. “My goals are to work hard and dedicate myself to becoming the best I can be, making my family and the club proud.”

Chris McGuane, the head of the academy, said, “We are pleased to welcome Shae to Nottingham Forest and look forward to seeing him integrate into the B team. He brings first-team experience from Australia and joins us eager to develop as a player.”

Shae, born in Liverpool, joined Everton’s youth setup at age 11, played in the under-18 team, and was released last year before moving to Brisbane Roar, where he made eight appearances and scored one goal. In addition, Forest has signed Nikola Milenkovic from Fiorentina for an undisclosed fee. The Serbian center-back, who joins on a five-year contract, played a key role in helping Fiorentina reach the Europa Conference League final and achieve an eighth-place finish in Serie A last season. He has been capped 57 times for Serbia and played every minute of their Euro 2024 campaign.

“He’s a crucial part of our summer squad plans, and his enthusiasm to join the club has been evident,” said Ross Wilson, Forest’s chief football officer. “We’ve long admired his performances for the Serbian national team and in Serie A and European competitions with Fiorentina.”
