“Rangers Eye Sevilla’s Joan Jordan Amid Transfer Challenges”
Going into the transfer market to sign players is one thing, but selling players who are no longer needed is another challenge that Rangers are currently facing. Philippe Clement is struggling to offload Sam Lammers due to his wage demands and Cyriel Dessers because of his loyalty to the club, with only Robby McCrorie sold from a well-covered position.
Sevilla is in a similar predicament with their handling of Joan Jordan, yet this situation has opened up an opportunity for Rangers. According to Que! Deportes, Jordan is now considering his options, and Sevilla might accept a loan deal where they pay less than 50% of his salary, a condition Rangers could meet.
Fabrizio Romano first reported the news on X. Even if Rangers cover half of Jordan’s £69,000 per week salary, he would still be among the top earners at the club, making a permanent deal unlikely, especially since Sevilla has already found midfield replacements.
With over 200 La Liga appearances and more than 50 in European competitions, Jordan offers a mix of experience and skill, which Nils Koppen seeks in a dominant, ball-playing number six to control the game’s tempo. The Rangers’ midfield has lacked such a player since Steven Davis’s injury and retirement, and not planning for this has been a significant oversight.
