“De Zerbi’s Ambitious Marseille Move: Mason Greenwood on the Verge of Signing”
Former Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi is making a significant move in the transfer market with his new club, Marseille. After three successful seasons at Brighton, De Zerbi is set to sign Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood.
The two clubs have reportedly agreed on a fee of approximately £30m, and Greenwood has accepted personal terms. He spent last season on loan at Getafe in La Liga and has not played for United since serious allegations were made against him in January 2022, which were later dropped.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano stated, “After receiving the initial approval from OM last week, Mason Greenwood confirmed today that he intends to accept their offer. OM and Man United have agreed on a €30m deal, plus a 50% sell-on clause. Key formal steps remain before the deal is finalized, as reported by @David_Ornstein.”
De Zerbi and Marseille had also shown interest in Brighton’s Simon Adingra, who was an important player last season under De Zerbi. The 22-year-old made 40 appearances for Brighton, scoring seven goals and providing three assists. Adingra joined Brighton from Nordsjaelland for around £8m in 2022 and is under contract until June 2026, with a current valuation of about £30m.
