The 29-year-old’s contract includes an option to buy, and he aims to impress Daniel Farke, having become surplus to requirements at Premier League Bournemouth.

Following Archie Gray’s departure, Leeds needed a new midfielder, and Farke wanted to add experience to the team with Rothwell.
Rothwell emphasized his career successes at 29, highlighting the distinct qualities he brings compared to other midfielders like Ilia Gruev and Glen Kamara, who are known for their passing rhythm, and Ethan Ampadu, who offers versatility in front of the back four.
Rothwell is known for his ability to carry the ball through the midfield and his physical robustness, providing a contrast to Kamara and Gruev, his competitors for a starting position in the double pivot.
While he may not contribute double-digit goals and assists like Gabriel Sara, Rothwell adds a cutting edge to Leeds’ buildup play, breaking lines and driving forward to support attackers. Additionally, his strong striking ability makes him a solid signing, though not a transformative one.
