“Everton Eye Lindstrom for Key Summer Signing Despite Liverpool Ties”
Jesper Lindstrom could be an ideal summer transfer for Everton, despite being a self-proclaimed Liverpool fan.
Fabrizio Romano reported on July 12 that Everton is negotiating with Napoli to acquire Lindstrom, a 24-year-old Danish international.
Romano noted last September that Lindstrom had previously declined interest from Liverpool.
“Liverpool wanted me, I am a Liverpool fan, but would it have been an intelligent move?” Lindstrom remarked, quotes that have resurfaced amid recent speculation.
Lindstrom chose Napoli, hoping for more playing time, but things didn’t go as planned.
He made 22 Serie A appearances but only started twice and didn’t register any goals or assists, which also cost him a spot in Euro 2024.
Now, Everton is aiming to succeed where Liverpool couldn’t by signing Lindstrom, a move that could be mutually beneficial.
Under Sean Dyche and Kevin Thelwell, Everton needs attacking reinforcements. Lindstrom’s previous performances at Eintracht Frankfurt, with 14 goals and 14 assists over two seasons, highlight his potential.
His talent is unquestionable, even though his stint at Napoli was not successful. A new beginning at Goodison Park, where he can play regularly, might be exactly what Lindstrom needs to revive his career.
The Toffees have been busy this summer, signing players like Tim Iroegbunam, Jack Harrison, and Iliman Ndiaye. Adding Lindstrom could be a smart move, especially after missing out on Hull City’s Jaden Philogene, according to The Mirror on July 12.
Despite Lindstrom’s connections to Liverpool, his move to Everton makes sense. He needs playing time, and Everton needs a versatile forward.
In football, career choices often outweigh childhood allegiances. For Lindstrom, joining Everton could be the perfect step to get back on track, while Everton acquires a player eager to prove himself. It’s a win-win situation.
