Spicer gave the Duluth News Tribune’s Matt Wellens confirmation of the choice. In order to concentrate on some personal and mental health issues, he also stated that he will no longer be playing hockey. The 20-year-old center was ruled academically ineligible and missed the second half of the previous season.

After spending early July at Bruins Development Camp, the 5-foot-10, 175-pound forward finished 49 NCAA games with eight goals and seven assists. Prior to committing to Minnesota-Duluth, the Grand Forks, North Dakota native, who was the 117th overall selection in the draft, was a part of the US National Development Program.
