BREAKING> Australia defeats Wales and causes more suffering for Gatland.
For the first time since 2021, the Wallabies have won back-to-back games after defeating Wales 36-28 at Melbourne’s AAMI Park in pouring rain.
Australia continued their winning start under Joe Schmidt on Saturday night, jumping out to a 17-0 lead after 25 minutes. However, they had to resist a rally led by the inspiring Welsh skipper, Dewi Lake.
After trailing 23–14 at the break, Welsh winger Liam Williams scored early in the second half to reduce the Wallabies’ lead to just two points.
To give the Wallabies some breathing room at 28-21, Allan Alaalatoa, a star for the Brumbies, scored his maiden international try.
In the 67th minute, winger Filipo Daugunu’s second touchdown seemed to have won the victory for the Wallabies after a horrendous ball-handling blunder.
Rio Dyer, however, took advantage of a Nic White punt that was buried to give Wales one last opportunity to defeat the Wallabies in Australia for the first time since 1969.
The hosts backed up their 25-16 victory in Sydney last week with a penalty goal to end Wales’ best attempts.
According to Schmidt, “some of the tries were spectacular and were based on some really good skill.”
“We’re just relieved that we’ve had a few outcomes because it will give the players some confidence.”
“I’m also thrilled with the group of men that are genuinely attempting to dedicate themselves to our goals.
It’s convenient to have specific tasks to complete.
The Welsh, who had ended the nightmare led by Eddie Jones by crushing the Wallabies in the World Cup the previous year, lost for the ninth time in a row.
Wales coach Warren Gatland declared, “I’m confident that this team is going to be a really good team.” “I am aware of the signage in the area.
“I’ve made it quite evident that while we’re working to give those players additional experience, we may have to endure some discomfort.
This is going to be a really good team, I can assure you.
The way the game began could not have been more ideal, as flanker Fraser McReight launched a brilliant run after receiving a chip kick from Andrew Kellaway.
After sprinting nearly the whole length of the field, the Queensland Reds player passed the ball to Filipo Daugunu to finish an incredible try.
In the 24th minute, halfback Jake Gordon made an equally spectacular play by weaving past Wales’ defense after collecting up a loose ball.
Wallabies’ lock After a heavy hit on Welsh prop Archie Griffin, who was taken off for a head injury examination, Lukhan Salakaia-Loto was sent to the sin bin.
Rob Valetini, a flanker from Melbourne, gave a great performance in front of his home crowd to win player of the match for the Wallabies.
With the hooker crossing twice in the first half, notably via a rolling maul right before the interval, Man Mountain Lake was in everything.
The Wallabies will play their final Test match before the Rugby Championship campaign kicks off against world champion South Africa at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on August 10 when they return to Sydney to play Georgia, who defeated Eddie Jones’ Japan this week.
