“Napoli Interest Rebuffed: Milan Set to Rely on Yunus Musah for 2023/24”
Although Yunus Musah recently became a transfer target for Napoli, he will not be leaving Milan this summer. Daniele Longo of Calciomercato reported on X that the Serie A runners-up consider the former Valencia star non-transferable.
Musah’s future at Milan was uncertain earlier this summer. The club had pursued the 21-year-old for months last year before agreeing to pay Valencia €18 million plus an additional €2 million in add-ons to secure his transfer.
Despite his potential and youth, Musah struggled in his first season at the Stadio San Siro. He made 40 appearances in all competitions, including 30 in Serie A, but did not win over former Milan manager Stefano Pioli.
His tendency for rookie mistakes and inconsistency raised doubts about his future in Lombardia. Milan, aiming to bring Youssouf Fofana from Monaco, plans to offload at least two midfielders by the end of the summer. However, Musah will not be among them.
Fonseca reportedly views the USMNT star as a valuable asset for the upcoming season. According to Longo, Milan will heavily rely on the versatile midfielder in 2023/24. Musah is expected to play a significant role in Fonseca’s lineup, regardless of Fofana’s arrival.
Meanwhile, Fofana is close to joining Milan, with personal terms agreed, and the Rossoneri now need to finalize terms with Monaco.
