“Milan’s Pursuit of Fofana Heats Up as Midfielder Accepts Contract Proposal”
Serie A giants Milan have reportedly reached a crucial point in their pursuit of Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed on Wednesday night that Fofana has accepted Milan’s contract offer.
Fofana is eager to join Milan, and negotiations have progressed quickly with the 19-time Italian champions. Now, the challenge is to get Monaco to agree to the transfer, which could be difficult.
Monaco previously rejected a €30 million offer from Nottingham Forest, and it is unlikely Milan will match that amount. Fofana’s contract with Monaco expires in 2025, putting pressure on the club to sell him soon since he doesn’t want to extend his stay.
Milan have the upper hand in the negotiations, especially after agreeing on personal terms with Fofana. Monaco are hesitant to lose him for free next year, so Milan can afford to wait. Talks between the clubs are ongoing, with Monaco coach Paulo Fonseca hoping to have Fofana for pre-season training.
If Fofana joins, it could hasten the departure of Ismael Bennacer, who is attracting interest from the Saudi Pro League. Milan are open to offers for Bennacer and expect to earn up to €50 million from his sale.
