A automobile accident in Maryland claimed the lives of Khyree Jackson, a player for the Minnesota Vikings, and two longtime teammates from high school.
According to authorities and the team, rookie cornerback Khyree Jackson of the Minnesota Vikings and two of his former high school teammates perished in an early Saturday morning automobile crash in Maryland.
Following the three-vehicle incident in Prince George’s County, Anthony Lytton, Jr., 24, died at a hospital, and Jackson, 24, and Isaiah Hazel, 24, died at the scene, according to a report from the Maryland State Police. Their car was struck by another car that was speeding and changing lanes shortly after three in the morning.
The Vikings declared in a statement that they had spoken with Jackson’s family and that they are deeply saddened by the incident.
Khyree’s death has crushed me, said Vikings general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah. “It was evident from getting to know him throughout the pre-draft phase that Khyree had goals for his personal and career life. His was a resilient story, always striving to be the best version of himself—not only for himself, but also for those who held him in high regard and looked up to him.
Jackson played two years at Alabama before completing his collegiate career with one season at Oregon. The Vikings selected him in the fourth round of the April draft. At the team’s next training camp in Eagan, Minnesota, he was vying for a starting cornerback spot.
Kevin O’Connell, the coach of the Vikings, remarked, “This news has devastated me.” “Khyree infected our team and facility with her contagious energy. His friendly demeanor and self-assurance made him instantly likable to his comrades.
Lytton played collegiate football at Florida State and Penn State, while Hazel played at Maryland and Charlotte. Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr. High School in Maryland, where the three had previously won a state title together, recognized them on social media.
