“Leander Dendoncker Faces Uncertain Future After Disappointing Loan Spells”

Leander Dendoncker faces a critical summer at Aston Villa after a disappointing loan spell at Napoli.

The defensive midfielder only played eight times for Villa last season, totaling 119 minutes, and didn’t see much more action after moving to Italy in January. With Napoli, he made just three appearances, totaling 21 minutes, which left the Belgian frustrated.

His lack of playtime resulted in him missing Belgium’s Euro 2024 squad, and now he must decide his next steps. With Villa already having five midfielders, including Youri Tielemans, it seems unlikely Dendoncker will secure a spot.

Although under contract until 2026, he may be loaned out again. However, after a largely lost season, there are few interested candidates. The end of the transfer window might bring an opportunity for the player with 32 caps for Belgium.

Since joining Villa from Wolves in September 2022, Dendoncker has made just 35 appearances for the club.
