Breaking news> Josh Hart and Jalen Brunson make fun of the Celtics owner for selling the team.
All teams in the Eastern Conference hold the Boston Celtics in high regard. For the next few years, the defending champions will be in the running for championships. However, when it was revealed that owner Wyc Grousbeck was considering selling the squad, they received some unexpected news. The news spread, especially to Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart of the New York Knicks, the Celtics’ opponents in the Eastern Conference.
The Knicks tandem discussed their thoughts on the Celtics’ hectic offseason after a championship season and the possible sale of the team on a recent episode of Brunson and Hart’s podcast, “The Roommates Show.”
“Do you know what I’m truly curious about? We’re all over here searching for extra change by raising the couch cushions. Where is Boston getting all of this crappy money? Josh Hart asked. “That’s what I want to know; Boston is over there just throwing bags out, and we’re over here searching through couch cushions for change.”
The Celtics and Jrue Holiday reached an agreement to extend their deal back in April. Jayson Tatum and Derrick White both consented to a maximum contract extension just a few days prior. The Celtics will have spent about $200 million on five players by the time the 2025–26 season rolls around: Jaylen Brown, Tatum, Holiday, White, and Kristaps Porzingis.
Josh Hart and Jalen Brunson seem to be unaware that Tatum and White’s extensions won’t begin until the 2025–2026 season. They currently don’t count against the salary cap. The Celtics have a championship core and perhaps the finest starting five in the NBA, but they will eventually face punishing penalties according to the dreaded “second apron.”
