Exclusive> Jason Demetriou, the former coach of the South Sydney Rabbitohs, had a Super League interview.
League Express can exclusively report that Jason Demetriou, the former head coach of the South Sydney Rabbitohs, has been interviewed for the Leeds Rhinos head coaching position.
Demetriou, who was abruptly fired earlier in the 2024 NRL season, declared last month that he was interested in working for the Rhinos. He has since been interviewed to replace Rohan Smith at Headingley.
Having played for teams like Wakefield Trinity and Keighley Cougars for more than ten years, the Australian has a special bond with the UK.
Demetriou led the Rabbitohs to their fifth consecutive preliminary final in his first season in command, but the team struggled to start the 2024 season and missed the play-offs in 2023.
The 48-year-old has worked a variety of coaching positions throughout the NRL and was a member of the North Queensland Cowboys coaching team during their 2015 Grand Final winning season.
Demetriou is competing with players like Paul Rowley of Salford Red Devils and Brad Arthur, the former captain of Parramatta Eels, for the Leeds job, though.
