“Celtic Target Costa Rican Starlet Andy Rojas Amid Summer Transfer Plans”
Celtic are looking for a new center-forward this summer and have been monitoring 18-year-old Andy Rojas from Costa Rican club Herediano. The club’s interest in Rojas has emerged recently, as they track the versatile young player who has made an impact after joining the senior team.
Last season, Rojas scored ten goals and provided three assists across all competitions. He also made history at the Copa America as Costa Rica’s youngest ever capped player, which further highlighted his talent.
If Celtic pursue Rojas, they are expected to pay around €1 million (£800,000) for him, according to Football Scotland. Brendan Rodgers and his team are reportedly interested in the young forward, and sources in Costa Rica have mentioned the expected transfer fee.
However, there is a possibility that Celtic could negotiate a lower price. Despite interest from Mexican and MLS teams, Rojas is inclined to move to Europe, giving Celtic an advantage. Nevertheless, they face competition from other unnamed European clubs also interested in the versatile forward, who can play as a winger or a No. 9.
Celtic have yet to make their first summer signing but are considering various options. TEAMtalk reported in May that the club is preparing for the potential departure of Kyogo Furuhashi, who is evaluating his future. Although Furuhashi’s contract runs until 2027 and he is valued at €14 million (£11.8m), it seems increasingly likely that he will leave Parkhead this summer.
