“Roma Leading Race to Sign Boca Juniors Defender Nicolas Valentini”
Roma are reportedly leading the race to sign Boca Juniors defender Nicolas Valentini, with club officials scheduled to meet with the player’s agent this week.
The 23-year-old has just six months left on his contract in Buenos Aires, and De Rossi, familiar with Valentini’s abilities from his time at La Bombonera, is eager to bring him to Rome.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, De Rossi does not want to wait until the January transfer window, when Valentini could be signed on a free transfer. Instead, he has tasked Sporting Director Florent Ghisolfi with finalizing the deal before the team’s pre-season training begins on July 8.
Valentini, who has made 47 appearances for Boca since joining the first team in January 2023, has also attracted interest from Napoli and newly-promoted Serie A club Como. However, given Valentini’s strong relationship with De Rossi, the Argentine international is expected to be easily persuaded to join his former teammate in Rome.
