“Harwood-Bellis: Key Player in Southampton’s Promotion Journey”
Last season, the 22-year-old was instrumental in helping Russell Martin’s team achieve Premier League promotion via the play-offs. He featured in 40 Championship games, scoring twice, and played a key role as the Saints defeated Leeds in the final at Wembley to secure their place in the top tier for the 2024/25 season.
This was his second consecutive promotion, having been vital to Burnley’s rise to the Premier League. He made 32 appearances during the 2022/23 season as Vincent Kompany’s side won the Championship with 101 points.
Harwood-Bellis progressed through our academy, making eight senior appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side, debuting in September 2019 against Preston North End in a Carabao Cup third-round win, contributing to City’s third consecutive triumph in the competition.
During his time with City, he also had loan spells at Blackburn, Anderlecht (under Kompany), and Stoke City before his successful campaigns with Burnley and Southampton. The central defender also represented England’s Under-21s, captaining them to their European Championship victory in August 2023 alongside City teammates Tommy Doyle, Cole Palmer, and James Trafford.
Everyone at Manchester City wishes Taylor the very best for his future at Southampton.
