“Moussa Niakhaté Set to Strengthen Lyon’s Defense in €31 Million Transfer from Nottingham Forest”
According to a report from Le Parisien, Senegalese international center-back Moussa Niakhaté, 28, is nearing a €31 million transfer from Nottingham Forest to Lyon. He has reportedly completed a medical with the Ligue 1 club and is expected to sign a four-year contract soon. Nottingham Forest and Lyon are finalizing the documents to confirm the deal.
Niakhaté’s departure is crucial for Nottingham Forest, as the Premier League club needs to make sales by June 30 to avoid penalties related to the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR). Last season, they were docked four points. L’Equipe reports that the deal was agreed upon by Evangelos Marinakis and John Textor, who chair multi-club ownership structures. Additionally, Nottingham Forest will receive €17.5 million from Lyon for Belgium international midfielder Orel Mangala’s transfer to France.
