“Hammers Should Avoid Signing Injury-Prone Sessegnon Despite Free Transfer”
The injury expert states that the English left-back missed the entire 2023/24 season due to fitness problems and required surgery in the first half of the season.
According to the Sunday Mirror (23 June, page 73), the Hammers have approached to sign the left-back, who can also play as a left winger.
Speaking to West Ham Zone, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and a Sports Scientist, said:
“The medical examination would take into account his injury history and its impact on his imaging, cardiovascular metrics, etc.
“A club would need to understand this risk, which would be factored into his transfer value.
“However, the fact that he required surgery early in the season and was then sidelined with a hamstring injury for the second half suggests that an outlier might emerge with his medical.”
The Hammers should avoid signing Sessegnon on a free transfer due to his concerning injury record, having missed significant playing time at Tottenham due to fitness issues.
This casts doubt on his ability to consistently contribute to the team.
Additionally, his performance has been inconsistent, not living up to the early promise he showed at Fulham. Even on a free transfer, he is not worth the gamble.
