“West Ham Set to Offload Veteran Striker Antonio as Forest and MLS Clubs Show Interest”
According to The Sun, West Ham are looking to offload their 34-year-old striker, who is considered “surplus to requirements” at the London Stadium.
The Jamaican striker, who has scored 67 goals in 254 appearances for West Ham, appears to be on his way out as Julen Lopetegui plans to let him leave.
Nottingham Forest are interested in re-signing their former player, while two MLS clubs are also keen on acquiring him. Fulham, another London club, is also monitoring the situation as they seek to strengthen their attack.
Despite wanting to stay at West Ham, believing he has a few good years left, the final decision rests with Lopetegui.
West Ham have already signed Brazilian youngster Luis Guilherme, who is seen as a future prospect. Antonio has been crucial for West Ham under David Moyes, especially given the club’s recent struggles to sign a top-quality striker. Last season, he scored seven goals across all competitions, proving he can still contribute as a backup striker.
West Ham should consider offloading Danny Ings, who has not performed well since his move from Aston Villa, before letting go of Antonio. According to The Guardian, West Ham are also interested in Jonathan David but face competition from clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United.
