“Brighton Eyes Young Talent David Mella Amid Contract Negotiations with Deportivo”
According to reports from Spain, Brighton & Hove Albion are interested in signing David Mella from Deportivo de La Coruña.
The winger played regularly for the Spanish second division team last season, scoring nine goals and providing three assists in 33 matches.
Earlier this week, 21noticias.com reported Brighton’s interest in the 19-year-old, which was corroborated by Onda Cero, confirming the Seagulls’ desire to acquire him.
It is suggested that the Premier League club is enticing the Spain U19 international. Although moving to Brighton could result in a salary increase, Mella’s preference is to stay with Deportivo de La Coruña. However, Brighton could utilize a clause in his contract to sign him for a reasonable fee.
Mella’s contract runs until 2026 and includes a €4 million release clause valid until the end of this month, after which it will double to €8 million starting July 1st.
Deportivo de La Coruña, under sporting director Fernando Soriano, have been trying to renew Mella’s contract since his promotion to the first team last year, but have not yet succeeded, potentially giving Brighton a chance to secure the winger this summer.
