BREAKING: Philippe Clement sent a harsh message about Rangers transfer reality against rookie recruits, as the former star makes a pitch to Lawrence Shankland

Making his pitch for Lawrence Shankland, Alan Hutton expressed concerns that the youthful and inexperienced Rangers summer transfer additions won’t be able to manage the heat at Ibrox.

After the way the previous season concluded and the Belgian’s inability to defeat Celtic, the former full back asserts that Philippe Clement is under pressure. The 21-year-old former Aberdeen midfielder, Connor Barron, joined AC Milan’s Jefte, Oscar Cortes, and Clinton Nsiala as the team’s fourth summer addition. Although the other four recruits are all 20 or younger, Hutton claims they need players who have been in the trenches. Moroccan striker Hamza Igamane is scheduled to be the fifth.

Philippe Clement calls for protection for his players after Rangers' shock loss

Hutton told Best Online Poker Sites that while they brought in some players this year, they are all young and inexperienced and will need time to get used to the intense atmosphere of the league after losing five players this year. Hutton is concerned that experience hasn’t been replaced, as players like Jon McLaughlin, Borna Barisic, Ryan Jack, John Lundstram, and Kemar Roofe were crucial to the team’s title win three years ago.

“Lawrence Shankland was the player I believed they should have selected last season, and I continue to believe that this season, but I believe they will pursue a younger player. Improved recruitment is required. I think the Rangers need to have a more stable team, akin to Celtic, because they have too many players coming and going.

This season, the Rangers are plenty with unanswered uncertainties. Will Connor Goldson be around? Is James Tavernier going to stay? These are elite players who might require substitution. The management is under a lot of pressure because of how last season ended and how important it is that they make the correct hires in order to start strong.

“After Rangers’ disappointing season, where they lost the Scottish Cup final and failed to defeat Celtic in the league, Philippe Clement is already under pressure. Things need to improve.”

With Todd Cantwell and captain James Tavernier allegedly open to offers from Rangers and a possible move to the Saudi Pro League, the biggest transfer of the summer may still be to come.

It would be difficult to see James Tavernier leave Rangers, according to Hutton, a former right back himself. Just take a look at his stats—he ranks second among full-backs in goals scored, only behind Cyriel Dessers. Todd Cantwell and Tom Lawrence, for example, both need to start making more of an effort. It would be devastating to lose James Tavernier since he would be difficult to replace. To maximize your profit, you should aim for the highest feasible charge so that you can put it back into the team.
