Breaking news: Following Jaidon Anthony’s loan stint at Leeds, Bournemouth has decided what to do with him going forward.

Jaidon Anthony, a former Leeds United loanee, may have difficulty forcing his way back into Bournemouth’s plans this season.

Having been a part of the trade that sent Luis Sinisterra in the opposite direction, Anthony spent the 2023–24 season on loan at Elland Road but found it difficult to have a major influence.

After spending his whole Leeds career with just two league starts, he was eventually dropped to Daniel Farke’s fourth-choice flank position as a result of the play of Dan James, Willy Gnonto, and Crysencio Summerville.

Anthony appears to have given away quite a bit by hinting in an Instagram message to his followers that he won’t be returning to Leeds permanently.

Nevertheless, considering that both Summerville and Gnonto might be moving this summer, it will be fascinating to watch if anything changes in regards to a move despite his lack of playing time.

According to reports, Bournemouth decides Anthony’s future.

Throughout the season, Anthony’s future was discussed a few times by Cherries manager Andoni Iraola. The most recent of these was in May, when he acknowledged Anthony’s challenging year following his loan out.

Iraola stated earlier in 2024 that although he was glad to see Anthony go in August of last year and has watched his development stagnate since, Anthony is a guy he wants to work with again for preseason.

When it comes to wide choices, Bournemouth is well-stocked with players vying for two positions, including Sinisterra, Antoine Semenyo, Marcus Tavernier, Justin Kluivert, Dango Ouattara, and Romain Faivre.

In light of this, Bournemouth has apparently already decided how to handle Anthony, according to BBC Sport.

Though it’s unclear how much that could be, it’s said that Anthony’s future may really lie outside of Bournemouth if they receive the “right offer” this summer.

Even though he still has three more years left on his contract, his loan stint in West Yorkshire won’t have done much to boost his value for Bournemouth.

Should Leeds attempt a long-term signing of Anthony?

As previously indicated, Leeds will probably need wingers this summer given that negotiations are already taking place between Brighton and Leeds on a Summerville trade, and Italy is showing interest in Gnonto.

Anthony has already shown his mettle at this level when given the opportunity to play frequently, contributing six assists and eight goals to Bournemouth’s 2021–22 promotion campaign.

Even at 24 years old, he still has a lot of room to grow, but Leeds should look elsewhere based on his performance from the previous campaign.

Although he is undoubtedly a talented player, Leeds will need to find a superior option to replace Summerville and Gnonto.
