The results of Dwight Howard’s extensive recruiting are now showing.
According to a Tuesday story by Shams Charania of The Athletic, former NBA All-Star Howard has been successful in getting two of his former colleagues to travel to Taiwan with him. According to Charania, Howard will play with DeMarcus Cousins and Quinn Cook on the Taiwan Mustangs in the July Asian Tournament.
Although Cousins did not play for the Lakers that season due to an ACL tear prior to the season, Howard, Cousins, and Cook were all a part of the Los Angeles Lakers’ 2020 NBA championship team. They will now be playing together once more for the Mustangs, who are in a league that Howard now owns a portion of.
Playing in Taiwan already, the 33-year-old Cousins was last seen in the NBA during the 2022–2023 season. He was the Finals MVP for the Taiwan Beer Leopards in the T1 League this season, and he recently guided them to the league championship.
Since his final NBA season in 2020–21, the 31-year-old Cook has played for a number of teams abroad, including those in China, Puerto Rico, and Russia.
Since 2022, Howard, 38, has resided in Taiwan (first with the Leopards before the Cousins arrived, and currently with the Mustangs). Howard had gained notoriety for his amusing attempts to lure some prominent NBA players to Taiwan, and it appears that he has now somewhat succeeded.
